Connecting and Empowering Young Music Enthusiasts

There are not enough words to express how amazingly fun and educational Y-J Youth Western Music and Poetry camp is.

I started out as a parent of a youth camper many years ago to becoming part of the staff of this amazing camp held at Weatherford College and I can not even think of my summers without this wonderful camp. If you have a young person in your life that has a passion for Western Music and Poetry you should bring them for this amazing experience. My own daughter learned so much from all of the instructors and experiences that make up this camp. Come along for an eventful experience.

As grandparents of 3, we are delighted to enlarge our grands music experience! In doing this we can increase our kid’s intelligence, social circles, and confidence for their lifetime.

Support the kids! Bribe them, do whatever it takes to get them there once and they will want to go again!!

My two boys have participated in the music camp for the past two years. Not only have they grown musically, but they have made lasting friendships. I would recommend this camp to any teen who loves cowboy music culture!

Simply an amazing opportunity for kids 11 to 18 years of age. What these kids learn in 4 days to help them in their music goals is awesome. From the positive reinforcement of working together as a group or individual, to bring out their voice or sound from an instrument, to understanding proper skills in performing and even respect for each other and our country.

What I have been witness to as they work with these kids brings such joy to my heart. A lot of wonderful teachers who love and truly care about each student. Come be a part!

Two years ago a family member referred us to the Cowtown Opry camp. My daughter was nine, and she loved to sing! It was an amazing experience for her and me. The camp was like a family. They made us feel so welcome. Judy and Jean both worked with her on her vocals. At the end of the week, the kids perform in front of an audience. Several people told me not to worry but she probably wouldn’t do well at the performance being her first year. My daughter got on stage and belted out her song. We were so proud of her! Other families who came expressed how impressed they were with her as well. Her vocals had improved so much in just one week. Judy and Jean run an outstanding camp. This will be our third year and we can’t wait to go again! The amount of support from this group is outstanding.

We signed up our boys to attend this camp for the first time last year and they had a great time. It was a great opportunity for them to interact with other young people their age who are interested in Western music. They especially liked the concert at the end as it gave them the opportunity to show off what they had learned during the week. A lot of good music skills are taught, but also a lot of good life values are shared as well. Any young person would be positively impacted by attending.
